The Phone (1) will not be getting Android 16 in the future.

The Nothing Phone, released amidst high anticipation in 2022, has now reached the end of its significant upgrade period. Although it won’t be getting Android 16 as confirmed by Nothing, the company assured that the model will still receive security updates for some time.

Some users may find the news frustrating, but in reality, Phone (1) has delivered on its promise by receiving three significant Android updates. It originally came with Android 12 and now operates on Android 15, in compliance with the support policy established at its release.

While the system won’t be getting new features, it will still receive security updates to ensure the device remains safeguarded against major issues.

Nothing Phone (3) is already en route.

Phone (3) is set to debut in July as the brand’s initial top-tier device, offering strong features, elegant design, and an estimated price of around £800.

The new model is expected to join the Nothing Phone (3a) and (3a) Pro line as a direct rival to flagship phones such as the Galaxy S25 and iPhone 16. It aims to address the shortcomings of its predecessors and appeal to a more discerning customer base.

Nothing Phone is not outdated, but it now falls under the category of devices that have a closed cycle for Android updates.
